The President announced that the bankrupt airline could be bought by the Federal government if they find enough money to buy it. It would be an interesting idea, Aeromexico holds a dangerous portion of the Mexican market, and having a flag carrier again would be rather cool.

However, Mexicana doesn’t... actually... have any jets. The fleet of over 100 jets were either sold to pay for debts or returned to lease companies. So it would basically be starting from zero.

In other news, does anyone want to buy a VIP Boeing 788 for... erm, 150 million?

When I was a kid someone gave me a framed photo of a Mexicana B757 in that livery . It hung from my bedroom wall for years.

I like mid naughts liveries more in general to be honest
